Earlier today HTC announced their flagship smartphone for this year, the all new HTC One (M8). As expected, the specifications are up to par against Sony Xperia Z2 and Samsung Galaxy S5. Below you can find the new comparison list of all three phones. What do you think, who wins this time? Sony, Samsung or HTC? Continue reading
Sony and Samsung presented their flagship models at MWC and they are both impressive in their own ways. I have made a comparison list below of the main features and specifications from both devices (data gathered from both Sony and Samsung websites). What do you prefer? Sony’s slightly better hardware and entertainment platform or Samsung’s heartbeat and finger sensors? Check it out after the break.
The sequel to last year’s Sony Xperia Tablet Z has arrived, the Sony Xperia Z2 Tablet.
It packs Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 801 chipset with 2.3 GHz CPU and Adreno 330 GPU, 10.1″ Full HD TRLUMINOS display powered by X-Reality engine, a 8.1MP rear camera and 2.2MP front camera, 3GB RAM, 16GB internal memory, microSD card slot (up to 64GB) and a 6000 mAh battery. The same waterproof and dust resistant (IP55/58) OmniBalance design is applied here. It is also the world’s slimmest and lightest tablet, weighing only 426g (WiFi) or 439g (4G LTE) and 6.4mm thin. It runs on Android 4.4 KitKat.
MWC2014, Barcelona. The moment we have all been waiting for, Sony’s announcement of last year’s flagship sequel to Xperia Z1. The Sony Xperia Z2.
Like its previous brother, the Xperia Z2 inherits the same OmniBalance and water/dustresistant (IP55/58) design. Inside, we find a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 MSM8974AB chipset (quad-core 2.3 GHz CPU and Adreno 330 GPU), 3GB of RAM, 16GB internal memory (supports microSD cards up to 64GB) and a 3200mAh battery. The screen is a 5.2″ Full HD TRILUMINOS Display powered by X-Reality Engine. It comes with Android 4.4 out-of-box. (KitKat updates soon for last year’s phones?)
Sony has announced the new Xperia Z1 Compact(D5503) at CES 2014 in Las Vegas. This device is like Xperia Z1′s little brother, were the similarities are many and compromises are few. Sony has basically taken all great features from the Z1 and placed them in a smaller shell.
Like its bigger brother, Xperia Z1 Compact packs almost the same hardware. The similarities are: Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 800 chipset, 20.7MP G-lens camera, 2GB RAM, 16GB flash memory (supports 64GB microSD) and IP55/58 dust and water resistance. The main differences are: smaller screen at 4.3-inch with 720×1280 resolution, and a 2300 mAh battery. Continue reading

Sony introduced Smart Social Camera apps and Xperia Themes in the Android 4.3 update for Xperia Z-series, previously exclusive for Xperia Z1. These add-ons are meant to be downloaded from the Sony Select app, but since the latest update, the app has become bugged and non-usable. This is a problem as when searching for extras through the Camera app you get stuck in an endless loading loop.
As if all hope is lost and we have to wait for Sony to update the Sony Select app, I have found another way of getting these apps. All apps are actually available in Google Play Store. Sony Select acts only as an app to view and sort the add-ons and link you to the Play Store. I searched around and found all available apps and themes. Sharing is caring, so you can find all the links below. Continue reading
Sony has so far kept their promise on rolling out the Android 4.3 update for several Xperia devices. Last week the first batch was released for Xperia Z1 and Xperia Z Ultra. Today, a new batch is sent out to Xperia Z, Xperia ZL, Xperia ZR and Xperia Tablet Z. The firmware version is 10.4.B.0.569.
Apart from including Google’s Project Butter improvements, Sony has added many new features such as: Continue reading
With less than a month left until CES 2014 is held in Las Vegas, I am one of many waiting for some news from Sony about new phones for next year. Sony’s press conference takes place on 6 January 2014.
What to expect you may ask? We should see an official announcement of Sony Xperia Z1 mini, a refreshed version of Xperia Z1, and maybe if we are lucky the next Xperia flagship of 2014. As usual, you will find the announcements here when the time comes. Continue reading
Earlier this week I reported about Android 4.3 update leaking to Xperia Z Ultra, and last week screenshots of the UI appeared from the Xperia ZL. The Android 4.3 update release is indeed closing in now as the software has been certified by PTCRB for both Xperia Z1 and Xperia Z Ultra. The certified firmware version is the same as reported last time, 14.2.A.0.290. With only two weeks left of December, the update should be out very soon. Continue reading
